Our Adversary
We often speak of Satan as if he is a cartoon character, a forked tongue, pitch fork carrying, comic, or someone not to be believed in, lest you seem unintellectual, and this mindset is exactly what he would have of you and I.
If we are to be victorious, we must recognize that we have a real enemy, a spiritual enemy in dark places, an enemy who wishes to take your physical and spiritual being if it be at all possible.
Paul warned the Corinthians to “be not ignorant of satan’s devices ...” (2 Cor. 2:11). He is wreaking havoc in families, churches, personal lives, relationships, and more. He is a real enemy, he is a powerful enemy, and he will not be conquered except by the power of God. Do not be ignorant of the devices and schemes of Satan, do not be fooled to think that he is not roaming with power and wickedness, and do not think that you are wise enough to withstand him apart from the power of God.
Satan will cause you to begin to view ungodly living with lenses that make it seem better, he will cause you to be careless in your service to God, he will cause you to feel fine about not assembling with God’s people. Satan is a master liar, schemer, accuser, and master of deception.
This enemy would love to ruin your life, your family, your dreams, and your hopes. Be wise, and be strong and courageous.
1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
